tricksparrow: It infuriates me when people say that digital art isnt real art. If that is true I challenge anyone that thinks that to get on their computer and do what a digital artist does. OH YOU CANT? IT TAKES SKILL AND PRACTICE? ISNT THAT INTERESTING.

HAHHAA THIS. 

I can see why some people see  how computers must do all the work; like with the line tool. But you can tell if someone knows how to draw uses the line tool over someone who can’t. 

I remember having an online friend back in 2002 somewhere there. They were so angry for loosing an art contest. They came second. Their work was a beautiful pencil drawn piece. The winner was a jaw dropping digital painting. I remember her saying I HATE ALL DIGITAL ARTISTS. I wonder why she never spoke to me again.

In all seriousness. Many great artists working in film switched from traditional to digital in the past 10 years. It’s just how the industry goes. Be excited for what comes next. 

I am sure cave artists VS paper artists had similar discussions before mwuaha. 

I like traditional media over digital for the fact that it is a little more mental work on remembering what does what and you have to plan it out. But digital media is also a form of art, it’s still created by human hands, just on a different medium.

I love traditional mediums.I am sadly a little dis-attached from the computer mediums. I am keen at looking at a cintique. I find working on the computer is gentle on my wallet and my wrist. My sketches and lines digitally can not compare to what I do in traditional mediums until I change my approach. I am hoping a cintique will help me further. But I can’t look at them yet. Far too pricey. :C sob.

Working in skin is by far the most interesting medium I have yet played with.  Painting with living flesh. Its fascinating how the colours move and feel. How the colours mix is so far different than any I have seen with paints or computer. Planning and keeping things clean is essential. It’s for sure a different mindset to digital. 

All different mediums have different techniques  I feel my traditional influences my digital. As digital influences my Traditional. I couldn’t say one is more impressive over another. Unless its tattooing. You can’t fake what the masters do D8

@Ice. I think it’s an interesting topic. I have had people tell me character drawings is not art. Maybe it ist and also isn’t at the same time? Art is art. Anyone can say they are an artist. Everything can be art. Suddenly art is not special anymore? D8 Maybe it’s not simple Ice! 
@ Zulaya I think you nailed it on the head there. It’s a medium. What I do on the other hand to the medium. haha. People really have no idea. From the research the the hours awake late at night practicing  To the hours slaving at one piece. Making you go crazy and writing things like this to their blog when they should be working. To the finish piece that people are going to take one look at, shrug and walk away. lmao oh artists. what are we doing.
